Late Arrival, Appointment Cancellation, and No Show Policies

  • LATE ARRIVAL POLICY:  If a patient is 15 minutes late or more for an appointment, the appointment needs to be rescheduled.  This is to ensure that patients who arrive for eye exams on time do not wait longer than necessary and it ensures that everyone receives quality and timely care. All patients are encouraged to arrive at the office at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment to register and complete any required paperwork.

  • APPOINTMENT CANCELLATION POLICY:  Appointments that are not canceled by one (1) business day prior to your scheduled appointment (or by 12 pm on Saturday for appointments taking place the following Monday) will be subject to a $30.00 fee.

There is no charge for rescheduling or canceling an appointment if @ 180 Optometry is notified 24 hours prior to your   appointment. Fees may be waived due to family or health emergencies at the office’s discretion.

  • NO SHOW POLICY:

    • Any new patient who fails to show for their initial visit will not be rescheduled.

    • For existing patients:

1st No Show=$30.00 fee.

2nd No Show=$60.00 fee.

3rd No Show=dismissal from @ 180 Optometry & Eyewear

The fee is charged to the patient, not your insurance company, and is due before the patient’s next office visit.

  •  FOR THOSE WHO HAVE INSURANCE AND WISH TO HAVE DIRECT BILLING DONE:

    • Direct billing is a courtesy we provide our patients for insurance plans that are eligible (see our "Direct Billing" tab to see the companies we direct bill).

    • However, we are not responsible for knowing how much your plan covers towards an eye exam or eyewear.  If upon arriving to the appointment and after submitting a claim, your insurance does not cover all or only covers a partial amount of the exam fee and you wish to cancel your appointment last minute, a $50.00 fee is charged.

    • If you have an extended health spending account (HSA) and not a traditional insurance plan, direct billing cannot be done.  If upon arriving to the appointment and it turns out you have an extended HSA and you wish to cancel your appointment last minute, a $50.00 fee is charged.

    • It is NOT @ 180 Optometry & Eyewear's responsibility to know what type of insurance plan you have or how much your insurance plan covers.  Please contact your insurance company to know all those details prior to your appointment.

As a courtesy, when time allows, we make reminder calls or emails for appointments. If you do not receive a reminder call, message, or email, the above policy remains in effect.

Any balances on a patient's account must be paid prior to booking another appointment or before any service is provided.

All funds collected from this policy will be donated to the BC SPCA and will be indicated on each receipt.
